Ultimate Frisbee, also referred to as Ultimate, is a non-contact, fast-paced field sport played in two teams. The game of Ultimate was started by a group of student leaders, who from the beginning inculcated a positive spirit of cooperation and sportsmanship into the game. The aim is to throw a frisbee (plastic disc) across the field from teammate to teammate, until it is caught in the opponents’ end zone (or goal). The game combines elements from other sports including the running of football and the catching, throwing, pivoting, passing of basketball.

Ultimate is a sport that requires very little equipment; the basic techniques and rules can be learned quite easily. The game requires each member of the team to work together to advance the Frisbee and to play defense.

Ultimate has traditionally relied upon a spirit of sportsmanship which places the responsibility for fair play on the player. Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of the bond of mutual respect between players, adherence to the agreed upon rules of the game, or the basic joy of play. Games are self officiated; there are no referees. It is through this overarching “Spirit of the Game” that Ultimate players build a sense of mutual respect and sportsmanship towards others – both on and off the field. game
